Hot Days of June

The month of June has been hot hot hot so far. So needless to say Nathan and I have spent a lot of time in the pool or in his little wading pool. Which he seems to enjoy but he likes wandering around my parents back yard better.

In the beginning of the month we went to Centennial Park with some friends for a Festival. There was lots of music, people, other kids, and doggies for Nathan to look at. It ended up getting so HOT that I had to take his shirt and shoes off and soak him with water. And I!!!! ended up gettin sunburned, :(

On Thursday evening Mike, Nathan and I took a little family trip over to the Nashville Sounds Baseball game. We actually stayed through the whole thing and had a really good time. Nathan got his first taste of cotton candy. He was not too sure of it at first but that first bite gets them every time. LOL.

One day during the week we drove over to the Symrna Splash Pad to run through the sprinkler type things they have set up, it took a little bit but finally Nathan thought it was great fun. I did not get any pics there because I a.) did not want to get the camera wet and b.)was there by myself and I did not want it to get taken. But I did snap some pics of the boy eating his ice cream pop after we were done. He LOVES ice cream, partly I think becuase he does not get it that much so it is like and extra special treat for him.

Later in the month Mike and I went to Pittsburgh for a wedding and Nathan stayed with my mom and dad. When we came back Nathan, my mom and I went to go visit my grandparents so that they could see Nathan for a bit. Nathan had a great time visiting with his great grandparents.

Mike's police co-workers also had a party where we had a really fun time playing with puppys and riding a 4 wheeler.

May Days

During the month of May, Nathan and I spent a lot of time playing outdoors at local parks and other various playdates. He can get around very well even though he still needs a little help everynow and then. He likes to swing on the swings, and climb up and down on the playground equipment, and he really really loves to go down the slide.

Bimonthly on Tuesday Nathan and I go to Chick Fil A and have a mother/son night out. It is a nice healthy way to get out of the house, we either go to the playground before or gym to swim before we go. And it is nice and cheap, you buy one adult meal you get a kid's meal free!

One of the places we like to go to is Centennial Park in Downtown, they have really nice playground and a 1 mile walking trail that I like to go on. And Nathan likes to climb and walk along the steps of the Parthenon.

One day we went to an indoor playgym with our moms group. Most of the other kids were around Nathan's age and he and his daddy had a really good time running around the area

It the middle of the month we joined the YMCA so that Mike and I could get some much needed exercise. They have a great daycare area that will keep Nathan for about 2 hrs so I or Mike can go workout and then we always try to go swimming afterward. Nathan was not too sure of the swimming pool at first but now he loves it. He gets very excited when he is picked up from the kids corner because he knows we are going swimming, he starts to make these very happy squeaking sqwaking noises and you always have to make sure to hold his hand when you go out in the pool area because he is so eager to get in the water. I try to take him to the pool at least twice a week and in July we are going to do some swimming lessons.

During Memorial Day Weekend we drove over to Chattanooga for a friends wedding. It was a long drive but we got there. Nathan looked very cute in his kakhi pants and orange plaid shirt but he never stayed still long enough for me take a good picture of him. We had a good time eating cake and dancing and then he fell asleep for the trip home, thank goodness.

Also during Memorial Weekend we went to the Tennessee Renaissance Festival and man was it hot. We all had a really good time. Nathan and I rode the camel, and then we all went through the little maze. Mike got to shot some arrows with the guys. Nathan enjoyed stealing our water bottles and pouring it on himself. But we all had a really good time looking at all the people dressed up and visiting all the vendors.

April Showers and March for Babies

During the month of April Nathan and I spent a little bit more time outside since it was a getting warmer. Since Nathan was walking a lot more on his own and get around a lot easier he liked to go to the playground and climb up the stairs and go down the slides. And he really liked to swing.
I did not take to many pictures during this month, I think I often forgot that he camera was in my purse, but I have tried to get better. Nathan also started to say more words, not too clearly but he says them, he started saying ma ma and da da more but he also started saying duck, kittie, fish, and he began to wave and say bye bye, though it sounds more like da da, :)

Pretty soon it was the March for Babies! On April 20th at 12:00 PM we went to Centennial Park to do the March. Our team's name was Nathan's Navigators and we ended up raising $705 for the March of Dimes. I also made T-shirts for our teams which was myself, Mike, My mom and Dad and of course Nathan, here are what the T-shirt looked like.

It was really a nice day, it was bright and sunny and not to hot but it was really really bright. We all had a really great time going to all the booths and talking to other parents of preemies. Nathan had a fun time running around the park and hugging various mascots. We all had a really great time doing the walk and we are planning to do it again next year. So if anyone is interested in doing the walk with us either here in Nashville or in your own city, it is a wonderful thing to do.

A few days later I held a playdate at my house, Nathan had a good time playing with his visitors and I enjoyed showing off our apartment. Overall it was a lot of fun and I plan to do it again sometime.
