Hoppy Easter!!!

Easter is Here!! Today is Nathan's first Easter, and I decorated some little bunny ears for him. And since I like dragons, I got him a dragon Easter basket, a little dragon finger puppet, and a baby Einstein dragon that says good morning, good night and plays music. I also got him and his daddy some little toys to play with when Nathan is a little older. And of course I got chocolate for myself, those of you that know me know that I LOVE chocolate.

So Grandmom and Grandpop Kent went home to NJ, but they got Nathan a really cute shirt before they left. My father and father-in-law posed for a picture with it and Nathan. It says, "Born a Yankee, but a Rebel at heart." Very cute.

Nathan has also got to visit with the Grandmother and Grandfather Burgess a few times since we have been home. I am afraid the child is going to be spoiled rotten before too long, :)

On Monday, April 2, we went to our Pediatrician here in Nashville. And Nathan got his shots, which he was none to happy about. He screamed he was so mad. Then he sat and pouted for a little bit. But overall he was very good. We also found out that he weighed 8 lbs and 5 oz, and he was 20 1/2 inches in length and has a 36 1/2 cm head now. Mike and I were both like WOW! he is really growing right in front of our eyes. That was also the day that the doc said that we could take Nathan outside of the house as long as it was warm and we did not take him to crowded areas.

SOOOO...
The very next day we went to Radnor Lake state park to get some fresh air. I was getting cabin fever so I was very glad to get out. We got to use the stroller for the first time. I am not really sure if Nathan enjoyed it or not, because he quickly fell asleep. But it was a chance for mommy and daddy to spend a little time together outside of the house. It was very enjoyable.

So Nathan is still currently getting pumped breastmilk but I made the decision the other day to switch formula because I am having a hard time remembering and finding time to pump. But for the time being he is getting his breastmilk with rice cereal added to it. But I was having a problem with him not pooping very often. So I asked a friend who also has a preemie and the Ped about it. They both told me the same thing that the rice cereal caused some babies not to poop every day, but usually every 3-4 days. But since he has not been constipated or having hard stools, it is no big deal. But when he does poop, ewww, you wish you could leave the room. I seem to have a very stinky son.

Right now the boy is sleeping, Thank goodness, since he is getting older he is staying awake longer and is more demanding of my attention. I think he got used to having someone around all the time when he was at the NICU because he gets mad at me if I try to put him in the crib to take a nap or if I am not directly interacting with him. I enjoy being with him but it gets pretty tiring when he seems to only want to sleep about 3-4 hours the whole time that mike is at work. And I am always faced with the ultimate decisions, do I sleep or do I clean? If I sleep then by the time I wake up and Nathan wakes he wants all my attention, then I don't get to much time to pick up anything or do any cleaning in the house. If I clean then well, I don't really get to much sleep. Sigh... But on a good note he is sleeping through most of the night, he only wakes up once between 12 and 8 am now, soooo we are getting there. Now we just got to get that head to work, LOL. He is also doing really well with his tummy time, slowly lifting his head up and holding it up looking around. It is also really funny because he gets so mad, he grunts and fusses the whole time he is on his tummy. The one thing that I do find odd it that twice now I have laid him down on his tummy for tummy time and he has some how succeeded in rolling himself over. I am not sure if I just laid him down where is arm was still under him or if he is really rolling over. I've been keeping my eyes open to see if this happens again.

How exciting! I am so happy that he is growing so well!! On the cleaning or sleeping debate...SLEEP. Believe me, my house was a wreck for quite awhile and sometimes it still is. Claire is very demanding when she's awake too. I get the bare minimum done and nap when I can. I'm so happy things are going great for you guys. Although, formula is expensive so get ready for that added cost!

We loved the picture of Nathaniel with his bunny ears. Becky printed it out for me so I could put it in my brag book. Hope you, Mike, and Nathaniel are doing well and had a Happy Easter.
